Founder Bio - Chris Moss

Chris Moss is a highly skilled career machinist with a strong background in precision engineering and craftsmanship. He earned his journeyman’s card through an intensive program at NASA, developing technical expertise that has propelled him into the world of knife-making. With 25 years of knifemaking experience, Chris has mastered the balance between machine precision and the artistry required for creating high-performance knives.

At Dauntless Manufacturing, Chris manages the day-to-day shop operations, overseeing all aspects of production. His responsibilities include CNC programming, manufacturing process development, sharpening, and design work. He plays a key role in ensuring that every product meets Dauntless’s high standards of quality. In addition to contributing his expertise to every design and OEM project, Chris has been the primary designer for several of Dauntless's standout models, including the Harris, Musashi, Clifft, and his namesake line, The Moss.

Outside of his work, Chris is a devoted father of two and enjoys fishing, overland adventures, and world travel with his family. His career has also included roles in the Department of Defense as a contractor and in the firearms industry, giving him a broad knowledge of engineering, materials, and functionality that he brings to every knife he designs.

In 2017, Chris co-founded Dauntless Manufacturing with Zach Thull, with a shared vision of producing knives that embody both craftsmanship and performance. Chris's expertise, attention to detail, and dedication to quality continue to shape the company’s products and innovations.
