Founder Bio - Zach Thull

Zach Thull is a seasoned career machinist and co-founder of Dauntless Manufacturing, which he launched in 2017 alongside Chris Moss. With a robust background in precision machining, Zach has dedicated much of his career to the Department of Defense and firearms industries, where his expertise has had a profound impact on defense technologies and product design. Zach holds two patents related to defense designs and has played a pivotal role in firearms design, testing, and production. Over the years, he has also been deeply involved in the management of manufacturing facilities focused on firearms and defense production, successfully overseeing the implementation of engineering and design efforts.

At Dauntless, Zach is a cornerstone of the company’s operations. He leads business development and customer relations, ensuring that Dauntless Manufacturing not only delivers top-tier products but also builds lasting relationships with clients. Zach also manages shipping, purchasing, and process development, ensuring that each aspect of the company’s operation runs smoothly. His technical expertise extends to CAD work for OEM projects, where he helps bring client visions to life. While his role is primarily focused on the business side of things, Zach also contributes to knife design, offering his insights and engineering background to ensure that Dauntless knives meet the highest standards of function and quality.

In addition to his professional endeavors, Zach is a passionate adventurer and family man. He enjoys traveling, spending quality time with his wife, two kids, and his Australian cattle dog named Austen. Zach is also a dedicated long-term backpacker, working on completing the entire Appalachian Trail as part of his goal to hike its full length. So far, he has completed approximately 500 miles of the trail, balancing his love for the outdoors with his commitment to family and business. Through it all, Zach’s vision for Dauntless Manufacturing remains clear: to create durable, high-performance knives that stand up to the toughest conditions while building a brand that reflects innovation, quality, and a deep connection to the outdoor lifestyle.
